In her controversial second book in the Fashion 2.0 series, Season of Change, serial entrepreneur Yuli Ziv analyzes major technology trends and forecasts their effect on the fashion industry. She questions why everyday objects such as clothes used by the entire human race see so little innovation. Her book, with a foreword by a visionary venture capitalist Lawrence Lenihan of FirstMark Capital, is a wakeup call to the outdated fashion industry. A must-listen for everyone involved in the business of fashion, from designers to company CEOs and marketers, Ziv´s bold predictions, sure to incite debate, address the future of the industry in multiple areas including consumer, branding, retail, product and lifestyle. Her goal is to provoke thought and foster innovation by challenging the status quo: from seasonal collections to pricing models; production and manufacturing; traditional advertising; trend forecasting; fashion week and more. She also offers up ideas for fellow entrepreneurs seeking to make their mark on the industry. Ziv highlights trends that brands need to consider in developing a successful strategy to navigate this new environment of constant change, including: the rise of group consciousness and crowd sourcing; the shift from search to discovery; the power of suggestion; the monetization of influence; personal style as a commodity; personalization; interaction and engagement; efficiencies; and data as the new retail currency. She takes a critical look at luxury brands, stating that innovation is slowly replacing heritage as the new attribute of luxury for the future. Inspired by innovation leaders like Ray Kurzweil, Ziv applies his Singularity theory to fashion by viewing it as part of the bigger change we are experiencing. Ziv proposes taking a page from the consumer electronics industry in her overview of new technologies: from smart fabrics to interactive retail, wearable tech and social tools. 1. Language: English. The inspiring true story of how courage, a dream, and some needle and thread can change a life forever. Since she was young, Tala Raassi knew her fate lay in fashion. But growing up in her beloved homeland of Iran, a woman can be punished for exposing her hair in public, let alone wearing the newest trends. Despite strict regulations, Tala developed a keen sense of style in backroom cafes and secret parties. She never imagined her behavior would land her in prison or bring the cruel sting of a whip for the crime of wearing a mini-skirt. Tala´s 40 lashes didn´t keep her down - they fanned the flames of individuality and inspired her to embrace a new freedom in the United States. As she developed her own clothing label, her exploration into the creative, cutthroat community of Western fashion opened her eyes to the ups and downs of hard work, hard decisions, and hard truths. Fashion Is Freedom takes us on a journey that crosses the globe, from Colombia to Miss Universe, and inspires women everywhere to be fearless. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Tala Raassi. Mrs Pankhurst´s Purple Feather: Fashion, Fury a...

When Mrs Pankhurst stormed the House of Commons with her crack squad of militant suffragettes in 1908, she wore on her hat a voluptuous purple feather. This is the intriguing story behind that feather. Twelve years before the suffragette movement began dominating headlines, a very different women´s campaign captured the public imagination. Its aim was radical: to stamp out the fashion for feathers in hats. Leading the fight was a character just as heroic as Emmeline Pankhurst but with opposite beliefs. Her name was Etta Lemon, and she was antifashion, antifeminist - and antisuffrage. Mrs Lemon has been forgotten by history, but her mighty society lives on. Few today are aware that Britain´s biggest conservation charity, the RSPB, was born through the determined efforts of a handful of women, led by the indomitable Mrs Lemon. While the suffragettes were slashing paintings and smashing shop windows, Etta Lemon and her local secretaries were challenging ´murderous millinery´ all the way up to Parliament. This gripping narrative explores two singular heroines - one lionised, the other forgotten - and their rival, overlapping campaigns. Moving from the feather workers´ slums to the highest courtly circles, from the first female political rally to the first forcible feeding, Mrs Pankhurst´s Purple Feather is a unique journey through a society in transformation. This is a highly original story of women stepping into the public sphere, agitating for change - and finally finding a voice. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Tessa Boase. This is an audiobook of pure science fiction. As if I could really have that happen to me and stay alive. I hope you like this continuing fantasy that came as a result of PTSD-influenced nightmares. I used this story to ´´interrupt´´ those dreams. This story follows the adventure of an ordinary disabled veteran who gets immense power, based as lightning and plasma energies. He is recruited by the FBI and sent on many missions related to today´s issues, things occurring in the future, and those occurring in the past. These missions are now going through time and ´´picking up the pieces”, as our hero encounters time traveler after time traveler from 100 years in the future to the past and today. This, in its awesome fashion, lets our ´´hero´´ show exactly what he is able to do and come up with in the way of devices. Sometimes, he destroys things, while other times, he reads and manipulates people´s minds using the electrical impulses within the brain. He fixes damage to standard events and in time and restores them to their original state. I´m not going to go into any more ´´hints´´ so I don´t give the whole story away. Enjoy!By the way, there is a lot of historic information provided throughout this audiobook, so it is also an educational story, not just science fiction. That ought to confuse the listeners and reviewers a bit. I hope you like the way I incorporate that information into the story to make it a more educational and interesting audiobook. And now, we begin Bolt’s new missions.... 1. Language: English. Narrator: Mark A. McMurray. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/130063/bk_acx0_130063_sample.mp3. Fashion - Philosophy for Everyone: Thinking wit...

Most of us realize that fashion is more than just clothes. It´s not just about wearing what´s in. Fashion influences our judgments of people´s taste, politics, sexuality, class, religion, and even their moral character. It can be a medium for technological and social change – changes in fashion may signal economic and political shifts. Yet fashion can also trap us. We can be slaves to fashion if we feel trapped by the roles dictated by the clothes we wear, and we can be slaves to fashion, literally, as in the case of sweatshop workers who make most of the clothes we wear today. This audiobook explores the diverse and sometimes contradictory aspects of fashion in a series of lively, entertaining thoughtful essays from prominent philosophers and writers. Topics include: What is fashion? How do we know what is fashionable? Who decides what´s cool and what´s not? How is it that clothes shape people the way they do? Why does fashion have the power it does? You won´t look at your wardrobe in the same light again! Editors Jessica Wolfendale is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at West Virginia University, and perhaps a little too fond of vintage clothing. She is the author of Torture and the Military Profession (2007) and has published extensively on the ethics of torture, military ethics, and applied ethics. Jeanette Kennett is Professor of Moral Psychology at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. She is the author of Agency and Responsibility (2001) and has published widely on topics including empathy, addiction, self–control, advertising and love and friendship. Time and space. Genetics and robotics. Education and fashion. Possibilities limited only by our imaginations. The future is yours to create. Could you be the Leonardo da Vinci of our times? Solutions emerge through powerful fusions of the best ideas into practical, useful concepts. Creative people rise up. Visionaries, border crossers, and game changers: Engage your right brain; open your eyes; think more holistically...intuition rules.
